This is something that happened to me a long ago
I was walking home after a long hard days work
Under a cloudy black sky
Through blinding lights and screeching sounds
When I thought of taking a short cut
And I took that short cut
Just a quick, convenient short cut
Turned right on that black cloudy night
And made my way through the alley
Through the mist of steaming restaurant kitchens
And the smell of garbage and piss
When a long tall shadow leaped in front of me
Holding a shining knife
That was gently cutting through the air
Dancing, threatening me
But I was not afraid
No, Lord I was not afraid
I just said "I don't have any money man, nothing!"
And he smiled disgustingly
Grabbed me by my throat and threw me against the wall
Held me tighter, making me choke
And whispered in my ear:
"Don't want your money, boy! Don't you know anything?"
He kept pulling closer and closer
Like a bully in a locker room
Filled with sexual anger
I didn't know if he wanted to beat me or fuck me
The shadow man grew larger and larger
Until he covered me like an old rusty cloak
Drenching me with his bitter sweat and then said:
"Don't like your face, don't like your body and I certainly don't like your womanly ways and the way you prance around boy! Don't you got no shame?
I'm gonna cut you up, son! You can't escape..."
Then I noticed the shadow man had eyes!
Two dots of unblinking red light
"Why don't you prance around with me?" I asked defiantly
"Let's be womanly together"
Then the world tumbled and fell as I was dragged along the filthy floor
The shadow thing was pulsing with rage
As was I
Now I was a shadow thing too
Two shadows slipping in and out of darkness
I caught hold of his knife and threw it away
Then I grabbed his throat high on adrenaline and disbelief
Surprised by all of this and kissed him
The most vile and excruciating kiss
He struggled fighting whatever he feared would come next
But I squeezed his throat tighter and said
"FEEL IT! FEEL IT! FEEL IT! FEEL IT, MAN! FEEL HOW MAN-LIKE WOMAN YOU CAN BE! FEEL IT, SHADOW MAN AND BE FREE!
Or at least try to be"
